1969-12-31 14:00:00 1969-12-31 16:30:00 America/Vancouver A Community Conversation Series: Aging in Our Culture Living Well, Dying Well: Aging in our Culture Moving from small talk to BIG talk on issues that matter (Doors open at 1:30 pm) The world’s faith traditions offer a veritable mountain of wisdom on this theme, their teachings enshrining eternal truths and reinforcing each other’s strengths and unique insights into the spiritual nature of living well and dying with dignity. You are invited to enter a beautiful public space with people from diverse backgrounds, to enter into conversations on issues that matter. An opportunity to move from small talk to BIG talk! Join us for a series of multi-generational, multi-faith, and multi-cultural Community Conversations facilitated by Kim Holl (Centre for Earth and Spirit) that focus on ageing, death and dying as part of living vibrantly! Soak up the wisdom in the room. Share your insights and wisdom for navigating the continuum of life. Learn from the wisdom of others. The event closes with a mix and mingles socially. Monthly Topics Include: Jan 21 - Entering the forbidden conversation: Normalizing the conversation around ageing, death and dying. Feb 18 - Aging in our Culture: the role of Elder: Wisdom from our culture & beliefs that offer a gift for navigating ageing, death & dying. Mar 25 - Transforming Grief: Exploring creative ways to transform grief, honour emerging wisdom, and affirm life. Apr 22 - Life Beyond Life: What do we believe? What is our experience? May 27 - Living Well, Giving Well: What is our Legacy? How do we move towards it? THE BACKSTORY The Community Conversation series has emerged from a deep and overwhelming interest in one of Earth & Spirit's, signature programs: Living Well, Dying Well. Within 72 hours of announcing the 4-week pilot program, it was full to capacity and had a wait list - proving that while death and dying is one of the forbidden conversations, we are all hungering to enter into it. One of the greatest gifts that emerged was the understanding that the act of exploring end-of-life informs how we live today and invites us to mindfully examine our legacy.
