How to survive the Holidays when you are single

All my single ladies, all my single ladies - now put your hands up! Yep. Raise those hands proudly ladies (and gentlemen), you are single and it’s going to be OK.

If you are feeling scrooge-ish this Christmas — don’t worry, we have created a list of fun and festive ideas that will get your single-self jingling.

Host a festive party

It’s the most wonderful time of the year... to host a holiday party! Your friends may be in relationships, but hosting a party will give them an excuse to stop cuddling and venture out to a social gathering. Get festive with a party theme, maybe the classic ugly sweater or dress up in your trendiest Après Ski attire. Just because you are single doesn’t mean you can’t socialize and not to mention, having the single title only gives you more reason to mingle!

Spoil yo self

Yeah, you heard that right, spoil yo self. Think about all the money you are saving on Christmas because you don’t have to buy gifts for your sweetie. Take your extra savings and get yourself a gift, or take yourself out one night. Really, your options are endless because you are single!

Pay it forward

Giving back is probably one of the most rewarding feelings. If you are feeling down about being alone for Christmas, spend your free time volunteering at your local food bank or animal shelter. Unlike your ex, these individuals (or animals) will most certainly appreciate your kindness.

Have a Christmas movie marathon

It’s Christmas! Of course having a movie marathon in your PJ’s with a box of cookies and a rum and eggnog is the best idea, ever! Try to avoid romantic holiday movies and opt for a more comical genre. A few good flicks that will put you in the Christmas spirit are Elf (obviously), Home Alone, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and The Grinch.

Realize you can do anything you want, literally

This is your Christmas! The world is your oyster and you have endless opportunities to make it the best Christmas! Remember, you don’t need arm candy to be happy or have fun! Call up your pals, spend time with your family or curl up and watch Netflix. Make the most of your alone time because sooner or later you won’t be able to do whatever you want. Scary thought, right?

We hope this survival guide puts you in the Christmas spirit! Let us know what you are doing to survive the holiday season as an independent!
