Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 92nd birthday today

How do you celebrate birthdays when you're the Queen of England and the longest ruling monarch in the UK? You make a day of it, and that's exactly what her Majesty did.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II turned 92 years old today and received a smattering of well wishes in various forms including written notes, gun salutes and marches.

A special version of the changing of the guard happened in honour of the Queen's big day, with the Gun Salute firing off at Hyde Park and an hour later at The Tower.

In the evening, she celebrated with the Duke of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales at the Royal Albert Hall for a special concert, with performances by Tom Jones, Shawn Mendes and more.

After Mendes' performance, he tweeted, "What an honour, such an incredible night."

Prince Harry and Megan Markle were also in attendance.

Queen Elizabeth II remains the longest-ever ruling monarch, with 65 years of constant service to the monarchy. She's lived through 21 UK prime ministers and 16 United States presidents.

She took the throne as queen at age 25, when her father, King George VI, died in the winter of 1952.
