Canadian driver speeds when Mötley Crüe comes on the radio, receives $639 fine

RCMP in Manitoba pulled over a driver for speeding this week who had an excuse for breaking the law.

The driver claimed that they were speeding because ‘Kickstart My Heart’ by Mötley Crüe was on the radio.

“Funny enough, our officer knew he was telling the truth, since he was also listening to it - just at a much slower and safer speed,” said a social media post from the RCMP.

Although it was the truth, the excuse didn’t cut it and the driver was ticketed for going 145 km/h, well over the speed limit.

The driver was fined $639 for their actions, a price that could have netted them a couple of tickets to see Mötley Crüe in person while the band was still touring.

While Tommy, Vince, Nikki and Mick are still putting out new music, they ceased touring in 2015 and have confirmed they will not hit the road again under the name Mötley Crüe.

A number of commenters on Facebook felt the driver’s pain, as sometimes you just get caught up in the music.

“My hubby got caught years and years ago,” said Jacky Appleyard. “It was because of Thunderstruck by AC/DC.”

“True, that song would make anyone speed,” said another poster, while one chimed in with, “(I don’t know), when Kickstart My Heart comes on the radio, I tend to hit the gas also.”
