'Fingertip amputation and crushing hazards': More than a million Igloo coolers recalled

Health Canada has issued a recall for a popular cooler brand that was sold in Canada, the US and Mexico.

The recall involves Igloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers manufactured prior to January 2024.

“The tow handle of the coolers can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards,” the recall said.

People are being advised to immediately stop using the recalled products, which were sold from May 2019 and February 2025.

According to Health Canada, 47,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, 1,060,000 were sold in the United States, and 23,000 were sold in Mexico.

As of Feb. 3, 2025, the company has received no reports of injury in Canada but has received a dozen reports of fingertip injuries including fingertip amputations, bone fractures and lacerations.

The recalled products have a tow handle, the word “IGLOO” on the side and were sold in multiple body and lid colour combinations.
