Search for Canadian fishing boat lost at sea has concluded, reports US Coast Guard

The US Coast Guard is reporting that a search for three Canadians lost at sea off the Washington State coast has concluded.

According to the USGA, the 66-foot commercial fishing boat sent out a MAYDAY call over the radio from 85 miles offshore of Cape Flattery around 2 am.

“A person aboard the Canadian-based commercial fishing vessel Arctic Fox II reporting the vessel was taking on water and the three people aboard planned to abandon ship,” the USCG said in a release.

The fisherman who hailed for help also reported they were wearing survival suits.

A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Sector Columbia River and an HC-27J Spartan medium-range surveillance search and rescue aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento were deployed to search for the fishermen.

Once on scene, Coast Guard aircrews immediately spotted a lifeboat with one survivor inside and hoisted him into the helicopter.

No further update has been provided on the status of the other two fisherman.
