The second grizzly bear in three weeks has died after being hit by a vehicle in Banff National Park.

A female yearling was found seriously injured on Saturday on the road leading to the Sunshine Village ski resort.

It was euthanized on Sunday.

Resource conservation manager Bill Hunt said another grizzly – this one a male – was hit by a semi on Hwy 93 South near the Trans-Canada Highway on June 4.

Ten days before the female was hit, there were reports of bears near the interchange between the Sunshine road and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Blood was later found on the pavement.

Hunt wants drivers passing through Banff to obey the 90 km/h speed limit.
