Bomb threats being reported across Canada and the U.S.

Bomb threats are being reported across Canada as well as in the U.S., however police are saying that the threats are not believed to be credible

Several police agencies have reported this morning that they are responding to multiple bomb threats made to businesses, schools, and more.

Several police departments have said that bitcoin was demanded as payment in the threats.

The Penticton RCMP responded to bomb threats at three major car dealerships this morning. The Calgary Police also reported that several bomb threats were made across the city.

“We don’t have any reason to believe they are credible,” the Calgary Police said. “However out of an abundance of caution we are treating each as if it is real.”

“We are also aware of similar events occurring across the continent.”

The New York Police Department advised of an email being circulated containing a bomb threat asking for bitcoin payment. They said that while the email was sent to numerous locations, searches have been conducted and no devices have been found.

The FBI has also stated that they are aware of bomb threats made across the United States.

“We remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to provide assistance,” they said. “As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities which could represent a threat to the public.”
