Prince Philip, 97, gives up driving licence in wake of January crash

Prince Philip has handed in his driving licence after he was involved in a crash on a royal estate last month.

The 97-year-old consort to the Queen voluntarily surrendered his licence to police on Saturday.

An investigation is still under way after Philip’s Land Rover flipped onto its side in a collision with a Kia near the Sandringham estate in eastern England.

He was unhurt, but the 28-year-old driver of the Kia suffered cuts and the passenger, 45, broke her wrist.

A nine-month-old baby was also in the Kia during the crash, but escaped uninjured.

Philip was given a breathalyzer test but it proved negative.

Police spoke to him again soon after the crash when he was photographed not wearing a seatbelt while driving.
