UPDATE: Listeria-related chicken recall expanded

(UPDATE: Aug. 22 @ 11 am) - A recall for diced chicken that was issued on Monday has been expanded.

Along with Rosemount brand cooked diced chicken, the recall now includes Reuven International brand diced cooked chicken and Sysco brand natural proportions cooked shredded chicken.

Both products have been recalled due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the recalled chicken comes in a 4.54 kilogram bag and has a packdate of Jan. 21, 2019.

(Original story: Aug. 19 @ 7 am) - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for Rosemount brand cooked diced chicken.

It was issued on Sunday and is because of a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recall covers seven provinces, including BC, but the CFIA says it could affect the entire country.

Anyone who has a 4.54 kg bag of the product with a package of 01/21/19 should throw it out or return it to the location where it was purchased.

“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” said a release from the CFIA.

“Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.”

If you think you’ve become sick from consuming this product, you should call your doctor as soon as possible.
