1. Bride wades through flooded church aisle in the Philippines
The Philippines is dealing with monsoon season at the moment, but that didn’t stop 24-year-old Jobel Delos Angeles from getting married. Despite a flooded church, Angeles and her man were hitched near Manila over the weekend. The storm certainly didn’t dampen their spirits and Angeles looked beautiful as she waded through flood waters and down the aisle.

2. Maybe plastic straws aren’t the biggest issue for our oceans?
New data shows that plastic straws are far from the biggest problem facing our planet’s oceans. Although many are turning away from the use of plastic straws, it turns out they only make up 0.03% of plastic in the ocean. Fishing nets make up an astonishing 46% of that pollution, while cigarette butts and plastic bags are also much more common.

3. Carmelo Anthony is about to sign with the Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets just got a bit stronger and will likely be the biggest competition for the Golden State Warriors once again this year. Free agent Carmelo Anthony is on his way to Houston to complete a physical and if he passes, he’ll sign a one-year, $2.4-million contract with the team. This information was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

4. Giant durian sells for more than $2,500
It’s certainly a lot of money to spend on fruit! A giant durian has sold for more than $2,500 in Thailand. The fruit has a length of 46 centimetres and a diameter of 92 centimetres, weighing in at approximately 40 lbs. Typically, the fruit is about a tenth of that size and sell for around a dollar.

5. Boat from Discovery TV series catches fire in Newfoundland
A fishing boat that was featured in the reality T.V. series “Cold Water Cowboys” was seriously damaged in a fire in Newfoundland on Monday morning. The Sebastian Sails was one of several fishing boats featured in the show that aired for four seasons on Discovery Channel Canada.
