The vast majority (82 per cent) of immigrants in Canada think the country has "accepted too many immigrants" with no plans to properly accommodate them, according to a new survey commissioned by the CBC. It also found that large numbers of immigrants are frustrated that they can't find jobs equal to their level of training or education.

Some of the Americans living in Canada have reacted to President-elect Donald Trump's latest threat to force Canada to join the USA. One member of Democrats Abroad Canada said he finds it "really sad to watch," but a Trump supporter defended her man, saying he's "a bit of a troll" but is "not asking for anything unreasonable."

A shelter director has urged the public to have empathy for a mother who has been accused of abandoning her newborn baby in the cold in Quebec on New Year's Day. Karine Dahan said she could "understand" that perhaps the homeless woman, 38, felt "fear and a panic" at giving birth.

The man accused of killing NHL star Johnny Gaudreau has pleaded not guilty in court. Sean Higgins, who is also accused of killing Gaudreau's brother, reportedly turned down a plea deal that would have meant he'd go to prison for 35 years.
