1. Prison guard dead, murder suspect arrested after 11-day manhunt

A prison guard who went on the run with a murder suspect in the US has been found dead. Police said Vicky White shot herself but Casey White – no relation – was captured following their 11 days on the lam.

2. Andy Warhol painting sells for US$195M

A painting by American artist Andy Warhol has sold for US$195 million at auction. Shot Sage Blue Marilyn – which depicts a pink and yellow Marilyn Monroe – is now the most costly piece of 20th century art ever sold.

3. Security to be tightened after extremists harass Supreme Court judges

The US Marshals Service has said it is beefing up security for Supreme Court justices after left-wing extremists demonstrated outside the homes of three conservative judges. The activists said they want to ensure federal abortion law is not changed.

4. Take-off aborted after passengers sent plane crash pics via AirDrop

A pilot was forced to abort a take-off after passengers were sent images of a plane crash via AirDrop. The plane – carrying 160 passengers out of Israel – eventually took off five hours later after several young people were identified as suspects.

5. More human remains found in Lake Mead as reservoir dries out

More human remains have been discovered in Lake Mead as the reservoir continues to dry out. Police have warned that more bodies are expected to be found as the reservoir – the largest in the US – shrinks further.
