As 2020 comes to an end, Merriam-Webster has announced its word of the year —pandemic.

3. Moderna files for approval of COVID-19 vaccine in the US and EU

Moderna is submitting a request to the US Food and Drug Administration for emergency use authorization and to the European Medicines Agency for conditional approval.

4. President-elect Biden announces an all-female senior communications team

The Biden-Harris transition team has announced that seven women will fill the administration’s senior communications staff. This announcement makes it the first time every single person on the White House communications team is a woman.

5. Actor Dave Prowse, best known for his role as Darth Vader, dies at age 85

Actor Dave Prowse has passed away following a short illness. Prowse was best known for his role as Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, a character that was voiced by James Earl Jones.
