The media business is a competitive game, but some of Australia’s biggest newspapers put on a rare show of solidarity on Monday. The front pages of multiple papers were redacted and stories throughout the papers were blacked out. It was part of a campaign pushing for stronger protections for media freedom.

Julian Assange appeared in a London court today to fight his extradition to the United States. The founder of Wikileaks arrived at the courthouse in the back of a police wagon with protestors on sight, loudly calling for his freedom. In court, his legal team said he needed more time to prepare his case.

It continues to be an incredible year for Canadian tennis. On Sunday, Denis Shapovalov defeated Filip Krajinovic in the finals of the Stockholm Open to win his first ATP title. He wasn’t the only Canadian to come out victorious this weekend either, as Vasek Pospisil pulled out a victory on the USTA Pro Circuit at the Las Vegas Open.

Last night was the 666th episode of The Simpsons and the timing worked out so well that the episode was also the series’ 30th Treehouse of Horror episode. The episode offers Halloween-themed parodies of The Omen, Stranger Things, Heaven Can Wait and The Shape of Water.

Once again, Kanye West has set a date for the release of his much-anticipated new album. Jesus Is King is now supposed to come out on Friday, Oct. 25, but we’ll have to wait until the end of the week to see if that comes true. He originally promised the album multiple times in September, but it was pushed back every time.
