With the 2019 federal election now in the back mirror and Justin Trudeau’s Liberals back in power, albeit with a minority government, there are a few unhappy parties. Leading the way in that regard would be Alberta and Saskatchewan. Both provinces were swept by the Conservatives and the talk of the prairies separating from Canada has already begun on Twitter under the #wexit hashtag.

After an epic walk-off win in the ALCS, the Houston Astros are ready to take on the underdog Washington Nationals in the World Series. The Fall Classic begins tonight and it should be one of the better pitching duals we’ve seen in some time. The Astros trio of Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke take on Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin of the Nationals.

It’s a historic day in Northern Ireland. As of midnight, same-sex marriage has been legalised and abortion has been decriminalised. On Monday night, a group of politicians made a last minute appeal to the Speaker of the House for the country to not go through with the change, but it was unsuccessful.

Lost among the chaos between the Liberals and Conservatives on Monday night was a big win out east for the Green Party. Jenica Atwin won the Fredericton seat for the Greens, making her the party’s first MP to be elected outside of British Columbia. She won by more than 1,000 votes over Conservative candidate Andrea Johnson.

While the MLB’s final series gets underway this evening, the NBA’s first games of the 2019-20 will tip off as well. There are two games on tap, including a showdown between the defending champion Toronto Raptors and Zion Williamson’s New Orleans Pelicans. In the evening, the two new “superteams” in Los Angeles will do battle at the Staples Center.
