Five things you need to know
1. Multiple people dead after California shooting
A man in Bakersfield killed five people in a Wednesday night shooting before he turned the gun on himself. It appears to be a domestic dispute of sorts, as the sheriff’s office says a husband and wife showed up to a trucking business and confronted a man. The husband shot and killed the man before doing the same to his wife and three others.

2. Hurricane Florence about to make landfall as a category 2 storm
The good news is that Hurricane Florence has been downgraded to a category two storm as it nears the southeast coast of the United States. The bad news is that it’s still a very large, strong and deadly storm that will cause billions in damage and surely claim some lives in its path. One of the biggest concerns is the storm surge, which could reach nine to 13 feet in some areas.

Nature is absolutely adorable and heartwarming sometimes. A narwhal, who is more than 1,000 kilometres south of its normal range, appears to have been adopted by a group of beluga whales. The horned animal has been observed with the pod of whales for nearly three years in the St. Lawrence River.
