John Mayer’s new low-budget music video is already in contention for best music video of all time

Say what you want about John Mayer’s music, the heartthrob musician is a funny, personable guy.

And he’s certainly shown that with the music video for his latest single, “New Light.”

“I needed to make a video for New Light, but nobody could agree on a budget. (MUSIC INDUSTRY amirite?),” reads his Facebook post about the video.

“So I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does bitrhday and Bar Mitzvah videos.”

The result is a very low budget music video that is so bad that it becomes amazing.

The 40-year-old uses the magic of green screen to fly above the world, play guitar in foreign lands and double himself up on screen.

All the while, he’s wearing an ill fitting stained sweatshirt, pajama pants and sneaker that are likely out of his dad’s closet.

Whether you like it or not, this music video is an instant classic and should be compared to the likes of Thriller (okay, maybe not).

As for the song, it sounds like pretty much any other John Mayer song you’ve ever heard.
