Kelowna-based digital artist looks to inspire others with messages of self care

This self taught artist not only creates aesthetically beautiful work, but can also give you a more positive outlook.

Haley Kennedy moved to Kelowna from Calgary three years ago and has since built a following for her digital illustrations.

Her personal brand, Sundae Studios, is all about delivering messages of positivity and self care. Sprinkled throughout her work are phrases like “Good things take time,” and “Not everything that weighs you down is yours to carry.”

Kennedy is a self taught illustrator and graphic designer. She’s been an artist for most of her life, but only began working in digital arts 2 ½ years ago.

“Most of my work centres around my personal struggles with mental health and positivity,” she explains. “Both of those things have personally impacted me throughout the majority of my life.”

The goal, she says, is to create art that people can relate to in their daily lives and feel encouraged by.

“I think that creating things in general is a really helpful way for me to deal with certain things and I think that the fact that I can also share those things with other people is incredible,” she says.

Kennedy says she’s also a big advocate of supporting women and their creative ventures. As a woman and a entrepreneur, she understands the struggles through trying to find her own footing.

“I really want to try and create work that motivates people in that way and would help a variety of people.”

In addition to her personal art, she also does branding and editorial illustrations for companies.

She sells her prints on Etsy, but there is also the option of commissioning work from her. Kennedy says she takes requests for any kind of custom work and she’s always open to chatting about different projects.
