With summer finally here, there is no better time to dust off those clubs and head out for 18 holes of fun at one of the many beautiful golf courses here in Victoria.
To help you decide where to tee-off, we present the top-ranked golf courses in the city, as chosen by our readers:
1400 Derby Rd, Victoria BC
This city-owned par-62 track has something for everyone. At just under 5,200 yards at the longest, it provides a perfect low-stress course for beginners to learn the ins and outs of the game, while also featuring a number of challenging holes for the more experienced linksman.
The course has long been a staple of the Victoria golf community, opening its doors over 100 years ago in 2021.
Its close proximity to the inner city – lying a short ten minute drive to downtown Victoria – and its value – costing around $50/ round – make it the perfect place to perfect your game this summer.
450 Creed Rd, Victoria BC
Nestled in the hills bordering Thetis Regional Park north of View Royal, Highland Pacific Golf presents some of the nicest views and picture-esque holes of any course in the lower-Island region.
Dubbed “Victoria’s friendliest place to play”, the property features two challenging nine-hole courses, totalling just over 6,600 yards combined from the longest tees and a par of 72.
It's a course that stays in great condition year-round and presents a great value for the price, costing around $50-$90/ round for 18 holes.
A must-play for any golf enthusiast looking to swing into action this summer.
5333 Cordova Bay Rd, Victoria BC
Cordova Bay has been one of the top places to tee-off on the island for years. The property includes a pair of beautifully manicured courses that offer spectacular views of Haro Strait and Mount Baker.
The Bay Course is the longer of the two tracks, a par-72 that measures a shade over 6,500 yards. Meanwhile the Ridge Course is a short-but-challenging nine-hole par-36 track that presents a perfect place to hone your short game.
The course also is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including 75 species of birds that you can spot while making your way up the fairways.
1005 Craigflower Rd, Victoria, BC V9A 2X9
Esquimault’s Gorge Vale Golf Club has remained one of the top private golf clubs on the Island since its opening in 1930.
A challenging-but-fair par-72 sitting on nearly 150 acres of beautiful property only minutes from the Inner Harbour makes Gorge Vale a great place to call yourself a member.
The club also features a collection of old and large Garry Oaks that add even more character to an an already-spectacular course.
