BC reports 536 new COVID-19 cases, confirms delay in vaccine delivery

Health officials reported 509 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

In a written statement, Dr. Bonnie Henry also confirmed nine new deaths, bringing BC's death toll to 1,047.

There are currently 349 people in hospital, down 19 from Wednesday, 68 of whom are in intensive care.

BC's active case count now sits at 4,604, down nearly 1,500 cases from last week, with 7,132 people are under active public health monitoring.

To date, 75,914 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in BC.

“We are disappointed to hear today there will be a short-term delay in the delivery of some of the Pfizer vaccines to British Columbia in the coming weeks as the company upgrades its production facility," said Dr. Bonnie Henry in a written statement.

"We are working closely with the federal government to determine how this might impact our immunization rollout in the immediate term, and we will have more to share in the coming days."

BC has said it expects to vaccinate approximately 400,000 by March.
