Prime Minister Justin Trudeau received a ringing re-election endorsement from former President Barack Obama on Wednesday.
“I was proud to work with Justin Trudeau as President. He's a hard-working, effective leader who takes on big issues like climate change. The world needs his progressive leadership now, and I hope our neighbors to the north support him for another term,” said Obama in a tweet sent Wednesday.

Shortly after the tweet, a spokesperson for US President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign called it “foreign election interference.”
However, Elections Canada has since confirmed the tweet would not be considered foreign interference under the current elections laws, so long as it was not paid for or the person making it did not receive any form of payment.
