Community mourns loss of Saanich business owner and her baby girl

A local entrepreneur is being mourned by the community after her and her baby girl passed away earlier this week.

According to a post made by her husband, Amanda Welch, owner of Pachulah, passed away on Aug. 23, the day after losing their baby girl, Rachelle Daisy Green-Welch.

The emotional post says that Rachelle was a “perfect baby girl” and he got to hold her and say goodbye. He added that one day, the family will be reunited.

“I’m sure you had to leave us as well, to go take care of our little angel baby girl,” it reads.

“I know the two of you will be laughing and playing somewhere on a tropical beach with warm teal waters and fine soft sand. You were the most incredible, talented, breathtakingly beautiful woman and the impact you had on so many people was astounding… The accomplishments you made in such a short time is spectacular, but you’ve left us too soon.”

Uptown also paid tribute to Amanda in an Instagram post, saying that she was a “positive bright light.”

Amanda opened her jewelry store at the popular Saanich location in 2016. Her designs caught the attention of both local and international buyers, leading to the opening of their Waikiki, Hawaii location just two years later.

“We are grateful she chose Uptown to cultivate her creativity and business,” said the shopping centre.

“Mandy’s positive bright light and presence will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with her family at this most difficult time.”
