UPDATE: Missing man last seen leaving East Sooke found dead

(Update: Nov. 20, 2023): A man who was reported missing last week has sadly been found dead.

Sooke RCMP said that criminality is not suspected to be a factor in the 56-year-old's death.

"Sooke RCMP offers our sincerest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased," the detachment said.

(Original story: Nov. 16, 2023):

Sooke RCMP are looking for help locating missing man Anthony Balzer.

Balzer was reported missing on Nov. 15, 2023, after last being seen that day leaving the Mount Matheson Road area of East Sooke.

Police said they are very concerned for his health and well being.

Description of Mr. Balzer:

• Caucasian;
• 56 years-old;
• 5’9;
• Slim to medium build;
• Short curly/ greying hair;
• Short moustache and goatee.
