Erratic driver in possession of stolen car arrested and charged in Kamloops

A Kamloops man is in custody after he was found to be driving erratically in a stolen car.

According to RCMP, on Sunday at 11:20 am, officers received a report that a silver Sebring was driving wildly near Summit Drive.

Within minutes, police received a call from the vehicle's owner who had just watched it speed away from the 100 block of Vernon Avenue. 10 minutes later, officers located the Sebring and arrested the suspect.

Craig Kopichanski, a 30-year-old from the River City, was charged with a number of offenses. This included motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation of a conveyance, and driving while disqualified.

Kopichanski was also arrested on a warrant for failing to comply with a probation order. He is set to appear in court on Jan 31.

Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
