Kamloops RCMP provide surveillance footage of suspect in New Year’s Day assault

The Kamloops RCMP is hoping that new surveillance footage can help the public identify a man allegedly involved in a New Year’s Day assault.

A photo released by the RCMP shows the suspect, who’s described as a Caucasian man around 5’6” with a facial tattoo.

On the day of the assault, he was wearing black baggy jeans, a red hoodie and a grey bucket hat.

According to police, the man walked into a retail store in the 1100 block of Columbia Street around 5 pm on Jan. 1.

He then allegedly tried to steal merchandise and assaulted “several employees” with bear spray when confronted about his actions.

Anyone who can identify this man or has information that can help this investigation is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2021-62.
