More than a hundred homes are without electricity in Kamloops after a car crashed into a power pole early this morning.
Mounties said firefighters, medics and police were called at about 12:30 am following a single-vehicle accident on Parkcrest Avenue/Nicolani Drive.
“A small car with a single occupant lost control and hit a power pole while travelling on Parkcrest Ave,” police said.
Firefighters had to use jaws of life to remove the driver, who was trapped inside the car.
The driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police added: “The cause of the accident is under investigation.”
According to BC Hydro, 137 customers have lost power as a consequence of the crash.
Power has been off since 12:42 am.
Crews are on site, but the estimated time for the return of power is 3 pm.
