Mounties in Kamloops are investigating a robbery that took place Tuesday night in Savona.
According to police, two people and a motorcycle were involved in the incident that happened just after 10 pm in the 7000 block of the Trans Canada Highway, west of Kamloops.
Police responded to the report on Aug. 9 in which a man had entered a gas station, allegedly produced a firearm and stolen lottery tickets and cigarettes.
“The man fled from the store and jumped on the back of a black street motorcycle, driven by his accomplice who was waiting nearby,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.
The suspect was wearing a black and orange motorcycle helmet with a face guard and the numbers of 509 on the side.
A short while later, while patrolling the area, an officer located a motorcycle with no license plate and two passengers, travelling toward Deer Road.
As police attempted to stop the vehicle, one of the riders dropped a bag containing the stolen merchandise and fled the area.
Fortunately, officers retrieved the bag and were able to return the items to the store.
The RMCP are now looking for any witness who may have dash cam footage or information regarding this incident.
