Kamloops RCMP released updates on a series of recent violent incidents and homicides in the city today with one similar factor reoccurring in every case.
According to police, victims and suspects of five incidents that happened between October 3rd and February 15th had connections to the local drug trade.
On October 3rd, Troy Gold was declared missing and later found murdered. Gold was found to be a participant in the local drug trade after further investigation. Suspects, in that case, have now been identified, the Serious Crime Unit has been called in, and the investigation is progressing.
On December 6th, officers executed a search warrant at a local business as part of a conclusion of an investigation into a home invasion. Cameron Cole and Charles Patrick were arrested and charged with numerous firearm, weapon, explosive, and property offences at the business that was used as a "stash house" for the drug trade.
On January 23rd, RCMP entered into two related murder investigations which both occurred at Kamloops hotels. One of the victims, Cody Mathieu, was a participant in the local drug trade while the other, Rex Gill, was possibly a case of mistaken identity.
February 14th saw police entered into a robbery, forcible confinement, and kidnapping case. Both the victims and suspects were participants in the local drug trade.
Finally, RCMP responded to a shooting at a north shore residence which has now turned into a murder investigation. Jason Glover died from the injuries he sustained, while the second victim's injuries weren't specified. The two were also involved in the trade.
Investigations into these cases are still ongoing and NowMedia will update them when more information is available.
