Victim of Kamloops hotel shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity

Kamloops RCMP announced today that one of the victims killed at a Kamloops hotel in January may have been a case of mistaken identity.

According to Cpl. Jodie Shelkie, 41-year-old Penticton resident Rex Gill had no ties to the Kamloops drug trade.

Shelkie adds that police are exploring the possibility of mistaken identity as the investigation progresses.

Suspects have been identified and the Serious Crime Unit continues to treat the case a priority investigation.

The other suspect, Cody Mathieu, did have connections to the drug trade.

NowMedia will update the story as soon as more information is available.
