A new exercise studio in the city is mixing yoga and dance to create exercise under the fairly new workout routine called “barre.”
According to Fitness magazine, Barre incorporates the use of ballet movements and barres, as well as yoga and pilates, to generate workouts.
Kelowna’s new Barresoul celebrated its opening days this weekend, recording over 70 guests entering their studios to engage in the free classes, lower-cost membership, raffles and more.
Barresoul features different types of workouts from stretching and toning, yoga, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), classic ballet and others –– including a prenatal barre class.
Mirela Johnson, owner of Barresoul barre studio, has been dancing since she was a young girl and teaching pilates while she worked her day job as a business consultant. She travelled around the world before settling in Kelowna.
After moving to Kelowna and being introduced to Barre, Johnson said she fell in love with exercise routine.
“It is the community, the connection between the studio owner, their staff and their guests and it is about sharing our own strengths, weaknesses and learnings with others,” Johnson says on her blog post on Barresoul.
“My mission is everything Barresoul stands for: connection, empowerment & balance.”
