Kelowna RCMP helps welcome around 100 Ukrainian refugees now living in Central Okanagan

Dozens of Ukrainian refugees now living in the Central Okanagan were given a warm welcome earlier this week.

Around 100 refugees were in attendance at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kelowna.

One of several guest speakers was Cpl. Dabiri from the RCMP.

He spoke on many topics, including the duties of police officers and the public expectations for the RCMP.

“These people have had their lives turned upside down so it is important they know we are here to support them and they are safe,” he explained.

The presentation also featured other community leaders and members of the ‘Kelowna Stands with the Ukraine’ organization.

Potential employers in the Kelowna area also were in attendance to help refugees in their search for work.
