Kelowna man arrested, one other suspect wanted for 2019 murder in Alberta

Yesterday, police arrested and charged a Kelowna resident in the 2019 homicide of Cody Michaloski.

Michaloski, age 28, was found dead in the early morning hours of October 13, 2019 by the Grande Prairie RCMP at an apartment building on Poplar Drive.

Following a lengthy homicide investigation into his death, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes executed two search warrants and an arrest warrant yesterday in Kelowna.

Benjamin Pearson, age 25, has been arrested and is charged with first degree murder.

According to the Alberta RCMP, Pearson’s arrest was made possible with the work of the South East District, Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – British Columbia (CFSEU-B.C.), and the assistance of, South East District RCMP Emergency Response Team and the Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identification Section.

Pearson will return to Alberta for a bail hearing before the Edmonton Provincial Courts at a date yet to be determined.

Police have also obtained an arrest warrant for Adam Pearson, age 26, also for the first degree murder of Michaloski.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes are asking the public’s assistance in locating Adam Pearson, however the public is warned not to approach him.
