Owners of proposed indoor golf facility hope to secure Kelowna council's support for liquor license

A new indoor golf facility that is scheduled to open this fall on Enterprise Way is hoping to get Kelowna Council’s support to offer food and beverage servicing.

The owners of Golf Evolution say their business will not only focus on golf simulation practice but also coaching/instruction, golf equipment maintenance and even partnerships with local school programs.

Randy Wood and co-founder Jonathan Garratt submitted a lounge endorsement application at city hall on May 23.

“Where we will be different is with our approach,” the application states.

“We will have much more room than other establishments in terms of Bays/Square footage. Having more room to swing and socialize is a premium offering in Kelowna.”

The owners say the facility won’t just improve locals and visitors’ swings but it will have a trickle down effect to all of Kelowna’s golf courses.

Although Kelowna’s courses are open around six months of the year, there aren’t many indoor facilities available during the winter months and this business could help fill that void, adds the application.

The owners say they do not anticipate the business would impact nearby businesses, such as the BMW dealership on Enterprise Way.

“With regards to the commercial and industrial businesses in our building and immediate area, we have heard nothing but positive feedback from them, most commenting that they can’t wait for us to open.”

This application has been circulated at city hall, however, it may require additional information before Kelowna City Council endorses the application.

Ultimately, the Provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch will have the final say on the application.
