Technical rescue required for man and woman in Canyon Falls Park

The Kelowna Fire Department was called to Canyon Falls Park for a technical rescue this afternoon.

Crews responded to the call around 12:15 pm after two people had fallen at the popular park in the Crawford area.

The first arriving officer did an assessment and made patient contact,” said John Kelly, platoon captain.

“It was determined that a technical rescue would be required to extricate them from the Canyon.”

At that point, the KFD technical rescue team was dispatched to the scene.

“Two patients, one male and one female were assessed, packaged and then lowered from the top of the falls to the trail below,” explained Kelly.

“The male was able to walk to the top of the canyon with our assistance. The female was transported using a basket stretcher and wheel.”

Both were assessed by paramedics at the scene before being transported to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment.

The KFD is taking this opportunity to remind hikers to remain on marked trails.
