Hockey Hall of Fame member Clark Gillies passes away

Hockey fans around the world are mourning the loss of a legend this morning.

Clark Gillies, who won four straight Stanley Cups as a member of the New York Islanders from 1980 to 1983, was confirmed dead by his former organization on Friday.

Gillies played for 14 years in the National Hockey League. He 958 games, scored 319 goals and collected 697 points.

The forward was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002. A cause of death has not yet been revealed.

"The entire Islanders community is devastated by the loss of Clark Gillies," said team president and general manager Lou Lamoriello. "He epitomized what it means to be a New York Islander."

He was just 67-years-old.
