On Wednesday evening, the Okanagan Sun hosted their first annual induction ceremony to the junior football club’s recently created hall of fame.

Since the early 1980s, the Sun has been a vital part of the Okanagan’s sports community, acting as a beacon for young athletes and rambunctious football fans.

Wednesday’s celebrations included the induction of five Sun alumni from the organizations early days (1981 to 2003) including, Greg Hewko, Jay Christensen, Terrance Huston, Chad Folk and Jeff Halvorson.

In addition to celebrating the players who have helped give the organization it's prestigious and respected standing, the ceremony also recognized key volunteers and builders who helped to foster the Sun’s overall excellence.

Founders Barry Urness and Bob Harrison were both awarded plaques, along with longtime volunteer and trainer, Terry Britton.

It was not just the awards that made the night special, but the opportunity for past players, coaches and fans to reunite and celebrate the accomplishments of their team.
