It has been a rough start to the summer for Pacific FC, who marked their fourth straight loss last weekend against HFX Wanderers FC.
It is not easy to diagnose what has gone wrong for the Tridents the past few weeks. Through the first month of the season, the team looked like it was ready to repeat as Canadian Premier champions, posting a 5-1-1 record through their first seven contests.
However, championship hangover would finally set in as the season entered its second month of play. It has now been over a month since PFC last recorded a victory and three full games since they last scored a goal.
Despite the recent struggles, the Tridents remain in second place on the league table with a 5-4-4 record.
They will look to get over their June gloom against first-place Calvary FC, who they will host at Starlight Stadium on Thursday night. CFC comes into the week riding a five-game win streak, and have gone eight straight matches without recording a loss.
They sit atop the CPL standings with a 7-2-2 record.
The two teams have already met once this year, with Calvary earning a 2-0 victory on their home turf in Calgary back on May 1.
Kick-off for Thursday’s match is set for 6:30pm at Starlight Stadium in Langford.
