UPDATE: Missing Saanich teen located, police confirm

(Update: Jan. 24, 2023): Police have confirmed that missing 17-year-old Zenaeh Edwards-Helgason has been located and is safe.

(Update: Jan. 23, 2023): Burnaby RCMP have advised that another possible sighting of missing Saanich teen Zenaeh Edwards-Helgason has been reported.

Edwards-Helgason was reported missing to Saanich Police on December 19, 2022. It is believed she has been spotted in various locations in the Lower Mainland since she was reported missing, with the most recent possible sighting happening in Burnaby on Thursday, January 19, 2023.

Burnaby RCMP is assisting Saanich Police with the investigation.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zenaeh Edwards-Helgason in the Lower Mainland is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999. Please quote file number 23-2298.

(Jan. 12, 2023): The search for missing teenager Zenaeh Edwards-Helgason continues, with new information indicating she has recently been in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Police say new information has revealed that Zenaeh was in the Downtown Eastside as recently as Jan. 10, 2023.

Police are still looking to identify one of the men whom they believe has information that can help locate Zenaeh. The other man has since been identified.

Zenaeh is 5’6” tall, with an average build and black hair. The 17-year-old from Saanich has been missing since Dec. 19, 2022, and is considered a “high risk” case, according to police.

A “high-risk missing person” can be someone whose health or well-being may be in danger due to physical or mental illness, addictions, disability or age.
