CBC pulls music, management drops Hedley, as sexual misconduct allegations continue

Listeners of CBC radio will no longer be hearing Hedley songs.

The CBC is just one of many groups cutting ties with the B.C. band following a week full of sexual misconduct allegations.

Today, Hedley’s management team announced it had terminated all “business relationships with the band” and Corus radio has suspended all airplay of Hedley songs across its 30 music stations, as did other stations in Edmonton and Vancouver.

The band is continuing on its cross-Canada tour, however opening act Neon Dreams have pulled out of the tour issuing the following statement:

Fellow opening act Shawn Hook also issued a statement he was “obviously disheartened” by sexual misconduct allegations levelled against Hedley but would continue “to fulfil my contractual obligations.”

Fans took to Twitter earlier this week, using the hashtag #outHedley2k18 to share stories of shocking behaviour by the band, including acting inappropriately with fans as young as 14.

After the initial allegations, the band issued a statement, blaming their actions on "a lifestyle that incorporated certain rock and roll clichés."

Hedley's upcoming tour dates remain scheduled according to the band's official website, though they recently banned press from attending tonight's show in Brandon, MB.
