(Update 11:45 a.m.) - Environment Canada has announced that elevated pollution levels are no longer expected for the North Okanagan.
(Original Story) - An air quality advisory issued The Ministry of Environment will remain in effect for Vernon.
The advisory was originally issued on March 10, after officials determined unusually high concentrations of coarse particulates were present in the area.
Anyone with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.
Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those with diabetes, lung disease or heart disease.
Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps reduce particulate exposure.
