VIDEO: Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters' Market returns to the outdoors with a fresh attitude for 2019

The Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market has officially returned to the corner of Dilworth and Springfield for the 2019 outdoor season.

In addition to bushels of fresh produce, the market is going into the new season with a fresh attitude.

“We just feel it is time to really look at the environment and what we are leaving for the next generation,” said market coordinator Frances Callaghan.

This spring and summer the market and its vendors are working hard to reduce the market’s carbon footprint and adopting more environmentally-friendly concepts.

With water stations throughout the area, compostable garbage bags and packaging, in addition to reusable bags and containers, the vendors, organizers and shoppers are all pitching in to do their part.

In addition to the new green methods being introduced, the same values of supporting local run deep in the market, with over 100 vendors and around a thousand shoppers turning up for day one of the season.

From the organic greens of Forbes Family Farms to the Okanagan-brewed Kombucha of Sajiva – and all things in between – the market is ready to be your one-stop shop for all things fresh, homemade and local this season.

The Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday until the end of October.
