If you’re a homeowner in the Central Okanagan, you need to pay your property taxes by the end of the day.
Both the City of Kelowna and City of West Kelowna mailed out tax notices in May and they're due when the respective city halls close today.
The fastest method of payment is online or phone banking through your own financial institution.
You can also pay in person at either city’s city hall by using cash, debit, cheque or money order during business hours, which are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. in Kelowna and 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in West Kelowna.
With only hours to go until the deadline, paying in person today is the safest method to ensure you don't face any penalties for late payments.
If you don’t pay your property taxes be the end of the day, you’ll be subject to a 10% penalty on your taxes, but in Kelowna it will be a 5% penalty levied on July 2 and another 5% penalty on Aug. 6 if taxes still aren't paid.
You’ll also be subject to a 10% penalty on any Home Owner Grant that isn’t claimed by July 2.
