'Extreme risk of overdose': IH issues drug alert for Penticton

After a substance was submitted for testing, Interior Health issued a drug alert for Penticton.

The alert warns of extreme risk of overdose and a very high risk of fatal overdose.

The substance in question is white crystals or powder being sold as “side” or crystal meth.

However, the substance contains pure "fentanyl with no other substances detected."

People who use drugs are being encouraged not to use alone, get their drugs tested, start off with small amounts and carry naloxone.
