The search for a missing person in the West Lake area had a happy ending earlier week thanks to the efforts of a hard-working police dog.
Around 5:30 pm on Monday, the Prince George RCMP were called about the missing 83-year-old man, who disappeared while on a walk with his wife.
“She searched the area and neighbours had come to help, but they could not locate the man,” explained an RCMP release.
“As night was beginning to fall, there was increasing concern for his well-being and his safety.”
Officers and police dog services quickly rushed to the area and started to search from the man’s last-known location.
Fortunately, a police dog found the missing senior in the bush and he was brought to safety.
“The Prince George RCMP is proud of the quick response by frontline members and the police dog services team,” said Cst. Jennifer Cooper.
“Their efforts ensured this story ended well for all of those involved.”
Paramedics assessed the missing man at the scene and determined that he was unharmed during the incident.
