British Columbia’s latest millionaire has been waiting a long time for this moment.
Frances Lloyd matched six out of six numbers for the June 19 Lotto 6/49 draw, splitting the $6-million jackpot with another winner from Atlantic Canada and taking home a cool $3 million.
“I have always dreamt of winning,” the Parksville woman said. “This is my big pot!”
What started as a low-key Sunday morning turned into anything but when Lloyd realized that her ticket was worth millions of dollars.
She quickly phoned her daughter to tell her the exciting news and later celebrated the big win over dinner and champagne toasts with her family.
Lloyd plans on gifting some of the prize money to her family and using some of the rest to purchase a new home.
“I don't quite believe it yet,” Lloyd said. “It’s a big thing to win.”
The winning ticket was bought at the Shoppers Drug Mart on East Island Highway in Parksville.
