UPDATED: Amber Alert cancelled after 3-year-old boy abducted from BC Children's Hospital

(UPDATE: Sept. 20 @ 6:38 am): The Amber Alert has been cancelled for the child taken from BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver on Monday.

The BC Amber Alert system issued the cancellation just after 6 am.

Police said Mounties found the boy with his mother near Calgary this morning.

They added that "the suspect" – implied but not confirmed to be his mother – has been arrested.

"The child is now receiving care and the suspect has been arrested," police stated.

They added: "The investigation is ongoing."

The alert was first issued shortly after 11 pm on Monday when Vancouver Police said the young boy had been abducted from hospital.

Investigators said they believed the child had been abducted by his mother.

Police said the boy had been receiving treatment for a medical condition and they were concerned for his health and safety.

Names, photographs and other details have now been removed from our earlier story in an effort to protect the boy's privacy.
