BC CDC identifies 13 more flights through the province with COVID-19 exposures

The BC Centre for Disease Control is warning travellers following another large number of reported COVID-19 exposures on flights through the province.

According to the BC CDC, 13 flights between Jan. 5 and 11 had passengers test positive for the virus. Thankfully, not one of these trips went through the Interior.

On Jan. 5, Air Canda flight 127 from Toronto to Vancouver and American Airlines flight 1539 from Dallas to Vancouver had exposures in unreported rows. The next day, the same American Airlines flight had a positive test between rows nine and 13.

Jan. 7 had two exposures on Air Canada flights. Flight 107 from Toronto to Vancouver had a carrier between rows one and six while flight 344 from Vancouver to Ottawa had an exposure in rows 16 to 22.

The following day, WestJet flight 3176 from Abbotsford to Calgary had a positive test in rows 15 to 20. Lufthansa flight 492 from Frankfurt to Vancouver saw a carrier seated between row 23 and 25.

On Jan. 9, Air Canada flight 115 and WestJet flight 725, both of which were from Toronto to Vancouver, had exposures in unreported rows.

The next two reported exposures came on Jan. 10. Air Canada flight 106 from Vancouver to Toronto and flight 241 from Edmonton to Vancouver had positive tests in unreported rows.

On Jan. 11, the final two exposures took place. Air Canada flight 305 from Montreal to Vancouver had its exposure between rows 14 and 20 while WestJet flight 3231 from Calgary to Abbotsford had a carrier in rows 15 to 20.
