BC SPCA seeking animal lovers to 'lock-in for love' across BC

Would you or your family like the chance to cuddle up with one of the dogs, cats or small critters that are in the BC SPCA’s care?

If the answer is yes, then join the BC SPCA’s Lock-in for Love campaign and your dream could come true – along with the dreams of vulnerable animals across this province!

The BC SPCA’s Lock-in for Love fundraiser runs from June 11 to 27 with finale events taking place in communities across the province.

“At the Lock-In for Love finale invited fundraisers get to spend an hour ‘locked-in’ with one of the animals in the BC SPCA’s care, while they make a final push to meet their goal,” says Alina Wilson, senior officer, digital giving.

Due to space constraints at participating centres, to be invited to “lock-in” with one of the animals in care on June 27, participants must meet a fundraising goal of $150 by June 24 (or average $150 per person as a team).

Animal lovers can easily join the cause right from their phone or keyboard on the Lock-In for Love website.

“Creating your personal or team fundraising page doesn’t cost you anything and it just takes a few minutes,” explains Wilson.

“You fundraise by asking your friends, family, colleagues, and others in your community to make a caring donation for animals in need. Each donation you inspire increases your impact.”

Participants have two options for the funds they raise. They can choose to support the animal centre of their choice or the areas of greatest need to help animals all across the province.

These needs range from the costs of critical medical treatment for vulnerable animals who come into the BC SPCA’s care to the more than 7,000 animal protection investigations the BC SPCA conducts each year, all funded by kind donors.

“This is a much-beloved event,” says Wilson. “It is all about the community coming together to transform animal lives with their love.”

Wilson adds, “We are touched by every compassionate person who fundraises, donates or helps to spread the word for the animals.”
