BC Vaccine Card to be only acceptable proof of vaccination starting Monday

The provincial government is warning residents of changes coming to certain businesses in relation to COVID-19.

According to the province, starting Monday, the BC Vaccine Card will be the only acceptable proof of vaccination for British Columbians to enter certain businesses and recreational events safely.

The transition period, which allowed residents to use their paper vaccination card as proof, is set to end on Sunday. As of now, the vaccine card is required for entering restaurants, stadiums and most businesses.

"More than 3.1 million British Columbians have already received their BC Vaccine Card, allowing them to attend events and indoor recreational settings more safely," said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health. "The smartest, safest, and soundest decision right now for everyone eligible is to get vaccinated. We encourage all British Columbians to get their shot and download their BC Vaccine Card today."

Residents can get a vaccine card through here. For easy access, they should save them to their phone or create a hard copy.

Businesses can download the BC Vaccine Card Verifier App from the Google Play and Apple App stores.

"Getting vaccinated is the most important thing we can all do to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from COVID-19," said Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC's provincial health officer. "The BC Vaccine Card helps people attend and support events and businesses with confidence, knowing other people around them are also vaccinated. It's an important step to help put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us."
